As reported in the Wall Street Journal, there has been a change in the tax code that caught many tax experts by surprise. In the past, many home owners who work at home, didn't claim the home office as a deduction because of a rule that has been changed recently.
In the past, if you sold your home after claiming a home office deduction, there would be a tax liability on the gain allocated to the office part of the home. This is no longer true. For more information, please consult your tax preparer.
