Working With a Designer
So you’ve done your homework and have a good idea of what you want to do. You’ve collected examples of what you think you want your kitchen to look like and now it’s time to meet with a designer. Click here for a Reico Store Locator to find the retail location nearest you. You can also set up an appointment online. It’s that easy.

Once you’ve arranged for a meeting, gather all of your research (photos, clips, ideas, etc.) so you can share it with the designer. Your first meeting will take 1 to 1½ hours depending on how complex your project is. We will review your design, discuss your requirements and help you establish a preliminary budget. We’ll also go over the Design/Measure Fee Agreement. There is a fee for the design process ― which includes a home visit, measurements, drawings, product specifications and more ― but this will be deducted from the price of your project.

It may take several visits or meetings to review, modify and finalize the drawings for your project. Some of those meetings can take place from the comfort of your home or office – ask us about scheduling a live meeting after your first visit. We can review plans with you online and make note of changes or revisions you want made.

Once that’s all done, we’re ready to start on your new kitchen!

Budgeting
The general rule of thumb is that you should expect to spend at least 5% of the current value of your home but no more than 10%. And although there are numerous guidelines, estimators and worksheets available to you from us and others, ultimately how much you spend on a remodeling project is up to you.

First, ask yourself a few questions. There are no right or wrong answers here, but the answers will help you determine an appropriate budget. Think about why you are remodeling? If you’re selling your home, you might spend closer to the 5% or less depending on how much you want to do. If you’re planning to stay another 20 years, then 10% might not be enough to get you the kitchen of your dreams.

If you don’t think you can really zero in on a budget, don’t worry. We have listed a few budgeting guidelines here that you might find useful. And if that doesn’t do the trick, than you can contact a Reico designer to get help.
