Whether it is green cabinets or just creating better green habits, the ability to go “green” in your kitchen (and home) has never been more popular or more significant than it is today.
Green products are typically energy efficient and/or contribute to energy savings, from appliances and lighting that carry the EnergyStar label to home insulation that can better protect your windows, doors, floors, ceilings and even walls.
Many green products include recycled materials. Look for recycled glass in Icestone and many engineered stone countertops. The use of sustainable materials, such as cork or bamboo flooring, is also very popular. You can also find low VOC products, such as cabinetry that have no formaldehyde in its construction.
Green processes look at the entire kitchen remodel process, from your design and recycling habits to the reuse of your old cabinets in other parts of the home or for donating them for re-sale to Habitat for Humanity or other non-profit organizations.
