The wisdom of Prince…on bathroom and kitchen remodeling

Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today 2 get through this thing called….remodeling?

Well, maybe not exactly how Prince wrote it. The world lost a true legend in music and performance artistry with the passing of Prince last week. His musical legacy will forever live on as a comfort to current fans and influence on futures ones and musicians.

You can bathe in the Purple Rain

Take a closer look at his musical catalogue though and there can be no mistaking the subtle but clear parallels to kitchen remodeling and bathroom remodeling. Here are 5 Prince songs that brought out his best…and can help you guide you through this thing called remodeling…

  • 1. “If you don’t like the world you’re living in, take a look around u” – Let’s Go Crazy Is that kitchen or bathroom driving you crazy? We spend so much time in the kitchen and bathroom, the last thing it should be doing is make us go crazy. Time to start thinking about that remodeling project?
  • 2. “You don’t have to be rich…” – Kiss Don’t get overwhelmed by what you think remodeling might cost. A lot depends on exactly what you want to do. A simple update to improve resale value will be a lot different than your dream kitchen or bathroom. And with more open shelving and spaces in today’s kitchens, the costs may not be what you think.
  • 3. “Dig if you will the picture…” – When Doves Cry It’s a visual experience to remodel, so share the pictures you’ve pinned, saved, created idea books with on Houzz…even the occasional picture you tore out of the magazine (yes that still happens!). Sharing helps to understand and clarify your vision for the space.
  • 4. “Only want to see you bathing in the purple rain” – Purple Rain Ok, Prince was really ahead of his time on this. The popularity of adding colored lights in the shower is a growing trend according to a recent article in the Washington Post, thanks to shower heads with built in color lights. Look for lights to be added to other items to bring that unexpected splash of color but until then, let’s joy soak in the idea of that purple rain.
  • 5. “So tonight I’m gonna party like it’s 1999…” – 1999 And now you have 2 reasons to celebrate…one because your kitchen does not look like it is from 1999 (or older) and two, because your project is complete and now you get to truly enjoy your new kitchen or bathroom, whether you throw a big party or enjoy a party for one.

So, what are you waiting for? Put on that Raspberry Beret (you know, the kind you find in a second hand store) and come in to talk about starting a new kitchen remodeling or bathroom project.
