When it comes to remodeling, more butterfly and less bee

Posted 1 year 162 days ago by Jim Grace

The world lost a legendary one-of-a-kind figure when Muhammad Ali passed away last week. Through all his highs and lows, Ali was more than a boxer to his fans, his reputation for being positive and a motivation to others making him larger than life. His words inspired many in all walks of life, and will continue to do for generations to come.

So when it comes to kitchen remodeling or bathroom remodeling, how can you channel the highs and lows of a project and stay more butterfly and less bee? We thought we’d let The Greatest inspire us with some of his own quotes that we’ve punched and jabbed up to help you create a real knockout remodeling experience. Ring the bell please….

remodeling with more butterfly and less bee

•"A man who has no imagination has no wings."  Remodeling requires you to imagine what could be. Working with a strong designer (think your cornerman…or woman) can help you spread those wings and that imagination a little wider.

•"It isn't the mountains ahead to climb that wear you out; it's the pebble in your shoe."  Remodeling requires you to sweat the details…down to the hardware, moldings, cabinet accessories, door hinging, faucet. Expect the pebble in your shoe…and deal with it.

•"Don't count the days. Make the days count."  Remodeling is an emotional rollercoaster with many highs and lows, many of which start once you’ve ordered everything and then…have…to…wait….for everything to come in. Think about what you can do to get ready for when the actual work will be done. It could be starting to empty out your cabinets, creating a temporary kitchen plan, painting an adjacent room. Find out what you can do to make those days in between count.

•"Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee."  Remodeling can strain even the kindest and gentlest of people. Doing the proper research, understanding what to expect and finding the right professional partner in the process will help you spend more time floating and less time stinging. Even the surprises (that punch to the gut you never saw coming), that happen in EVERY project (c’mon now, stay on your feet) that sting like a bee can be dealt with when you have the right understanding and team working with you.

Nobody wants a kitchen remodeling or bathroom remodeling project to be a fight that goes 12 rounds. With the right training, team and preparation, you can create a knockout remodeling experience and a champion kitchen or bathroom for you to enjoy for many rounds (and years) to come. The Greatest said “If my mind can conceive it, if my heart can believe it, then I can achieve it.” So dream big and believe it. Ali did not hold back and in the process inspired millions around the world. RIP Champ.
