How to Avoid Being Disappointed With Your Kitchen Remodel

Your hopes are up high. You’re getting your kitchen remodeled. Hurray! Finally. You can’t wait.

But you know what?  There’s a whole scary list of things that could go wrong. In the end, you want to be happy, not disappointed in your remodel. With a little help, it can happen.

Get Starting Advice

Before you begin, you’ve got to envision your new kitchen remodel. A huge key to being happy is to know your exact finshed goal, and take every step you can to get there. But you don’t have to just keep your vision inside your head. You can work with a designer to bring it to life.

No Mismatching

If you’re doing an overhaul of your appliances, stick with one brand. Usually, brands will come in sets. If you’re getting one brand for your oven and one brand for your microwave and another for your dishwasher, your kitchen may look too cobbled together. Luckily, matching appliance packages are now becoming more affordable than ever. So you can get the look you want and the price you want.

Work With the Floor Plan

Getting the floor plan of your kitchen wrong is a huge blunder in the remodeling of your kitchen. Again, ask the company you’re working with. What’s the traffic pattern going to be like? Does the space between the fridge, stove, and oven make sense? A good designer will know how to answer these questions and give you the space you deserve. Hint: ask about the work triangle in your kitchen.

Don’t Move Your Plumbing

A big way to get disappointed with your remodel is to move your water and your gas lines all around for what you think is going to be a great design. In the end, you’re going to spend a ton of money doing this. Instead, your designer can come up with less costly ways to revamp your kitchen that don’t have to involve moving pipe elements.

Keep Your Cabinets - Maybe

Your cabinets don’t have to go. Ask your designer if they think the wood in your cabinets is quality enough to keep. Cabinets are often one of the more pricey components of a kitchen remodel. If you can give them a facelift instead of gutting them entirely, you can use that money for another part of your kitchen instead. A simple paint job could be all your cabinets need.

Don’t Scrimp on Your Sink

You’ll be using your sink every single day, multiple times. This is the one thing that you’re going to want to really consider your options for. Get the best sink in your budget. .Cleanup will be so much easier when you have the sink that works with your kitchen, and it’s not a very expensive feature to add. Make sure it’s big enough to fit all your dishes.
