What Goes Into the Cost of a Bathroom Remodel?

When it comes to remodeling your bathroom, you could be looking for help from quite a few people. You’ve got your designer, your electricians, your plumbers, and possibly more.

If you’re thinking about remodeling your bathroom, you’re considering the thought of a brand new, beautiful room. And that’s exciting! But you also want to know the cost.

For bathroom remodeling, you’ll be looking at four main trades:

  1. Plumbing
  2. Masonry
  3. Cabinetry
  4. Electrical

Could it be that as that list adds up, your cost does too? Here’s what it might cost, on average, to remodel your bathroom.

The Cost of Your Bathroom Remodel

Congrats! You’re embarking on an exciting project. When you know the breakdown of the process, you’ll be able to plan exactly what you want. Time to wind up with the bathroom of your dreams.

Vanities

If you’re thinking of redoing the vanities in your room, you have two main options. You can buy your vanity prefabricated, or you can get them custom made. When you get your vanities custom made, it can really bring life and character to your bathroom. You might be paying two to three times the amount for custom vanities, but it could also be worth it.

A six foot vanity could cost you around 600-900 dollars. Multiply that by two or three when you’re looking at custom vanities. Custom vanities can become a beautiful focal point for the center of your bathroom, and help you with your storage.

Walls

If you have a small bathroom, you might want to move your walls around. Maybe you want to move something to create a more functional space.

If your wall has pipes, electrical wires, or infrastructure items, it will be more expensive to move. If it doesn’t have any of that, it can be as low as 2,000 dollars. If you have to alter the wall with electrical engineering, it could enter into five digits.

Tile Installation

If you want a fresh updated look for your bathroom, you should definitely install new tile during your remodel. That can go for the flooring, the walls, or the shower. If you want your walls completely covered in new tile, you might run yourself a bill of about 5,000 dollars. If you choose to have it on some walls, that price gets slashed. Consider adding a backsplash, and updating those tiles in your shower. It’s a timeless move that will last you forever.

New Accessories

New fixtures can run you around 1,000 dollars and up, depending on the brand you get and what you want to replace. You can expect much less than that if you simply want to install a new toilet.

Cabinetry and hardware on average runs you about 1,800 dollars for a regularly sized bathroom. In general, the thing that’s going to cost you the most is labor. Having a well executed plan can cut your costs simply because you can save time by letting people know what you want.
